Seek Community Funding for Health Care Programs

“Hutchinson Area Foundation for Health Care's (HAFHC) consistent financial support to ConnectCare definitely impacts our ability to enhance end of life cares for the terminally ill. Because of donations we are able to offer hospice services to everyone-even those who are uninsured or underinsured. It helps us in so many wonderful ways-from supporting our volunteer and bereavement programs to purchasing expensive pain medications. Hospice is very fortunate to have the support of the foundation and the community. Your support secures the availability of hospice services for others.”

Birchwood, the residential hospice home is also part of ConnectCare.  The Mary Burich Hospice House, as it is also called, was built to provide hospice services for those who choose not to die at home, but also not in the hospital.

Annually, the Foundation hosts the Hospice Share ‘N Care Dinner at the Crow River Golf Club.  This event is a major fundraiser for Hospice.  In 2006 we were able to raise over $8500 designated specifically for hospice.

Tree of Lights is an annual campaign for the remembrance tree.  Anyone can purchase lights “In Remembrance of” or “In Honor of” a loved one.  The Remembrance Tree is lit at the American Legion Park in Hutchinson, and also in Brownton and Cedar Mills.  Park Elementary has their own version of the remembrance tree.  The students and staff can purchase lights, that are cutouts and a tree is formed on the wall in the School Entrance.

Scholarship Committee presents seven $500 scholarships that are awarded through the Foundation. Five are for area high school seniors at Hutchinson, New Century Charter, Buffalo Lake/Hector, McLeod West and Dassel/Cokato. One scholarship is given to a HAHC employee’s child and one is given to a Ridgewater student. When selecting these recipients, the criteria includes their choice of a healthcare related field of study. Applications for these can be found with High School Counselors or through the Foundation Office.
