The Opportunity

Hutchinson Area Health Care (HAHC) has joined in partnership with Presbyterian Homes to build a new skilled nursing care residence in Hutchinson. Both of these outstanding care organizations are combining their experience and expertise to provide “safe, superior care” for our seniors. Along with the highest quality of care, the facility will meet or exceed all state goals for privacy, dignity, quality of life and living environment. This new residence will address important social, spiritual, therapeutic and treatment related needs for both long-term and short-term residents

 Resident Centered Care

This facility will consist of the following features to develop and enhance resident centered care.

· 108 Private Rooms and 6 Semi- Private rooms each with a private bathroom and shower. Each floor of the three stories of residential care
space will consist of two neighbor-hoods of twenty residents and each neighborhood has two households of 10 residents.

 · Residents will share dining and recreation space as households, in a more private and intimate setting. Activities can be structured appropriately to allow greater participation and more satisfying involvement. Routines can be tailored to meet individual needs of each resident by providing adequate space and access for every resident.

Life safety improvements include meeting all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements which directly impact quality of life and occupational safety issues.

· All bathrooms will be handicapped accessible and provide adequate room for staff to assist residents with special care needs.

· All fire safety alarm, prevention, and fire suppression resources will be in place to provide the highest level of safety.

· Safety of staff, residents and guests will be improved by adequate storage space for resident personal belongings, necessary medical equipment, and services delivery equipment.

Institutional appearances have been removed to promote the sense of “home.” To insure that resident needs are attended to promptly, state of the art technology will be installed. Staff will be equipped with personal wireless communication devices that will eliminate overhead pages. Personal communication devices will also allow staff to connect quickly and easily to other staff or departments when assistance is required. The design of the residence provides for the best in therapeutic equipment and ample rehabilitative space.

The entire residence will be equipped with air conditioning and air exchange systems to provide maximum comfort. These systems will help to prevent exposure to airborne contaminants that could pose serious threats to residents.

Interior space is designed to allow flexibility in configuring households or neighborhoods to best serve the resident population all the while meeting the needs and expectation of all residents and their families. Flexibility within the residence will allow specialized services, such as memory care residents and transitional care residents, to live in separate households and insure quality and dignity to residents what ever their length of stay.

The Challenge

Hutchinson Area Foundation for Health Care has launched a capital campaign to raise five million dollars to support the over-all facility cost of twenty five million. Our community has a long standing tradition of supporting quality initiatives. Through a feasibility study, we know the community is ready to support the new senior care residence.

Now is the Time to Act

By your commitment of time and money, you have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of your neighbors, your friends, family and yes, even yourself.

This campaign provides an unprecedented opportunity to help endow the community with a high quality senior care residence. Your financial support is vital to the success of this new senior care facility.

Citizens are encouraged to volunteer time, pledge support, include HAFHC in their estate plans and most of all, influence others to become involved in “Building the Future of Senior Care.”

 Gift Opportunities

In every major gift campaign, there is a need for gifts of different levels. The gifting table reflects the gift patterns needed for a successful $5,000,000 campaign.

The foundation gratefully recognizes these key gifts with names placed on a commemorative “Builders Wall” displayed in the new facility.
